    Fender Japan guitars have always been great. I currently own 2 Fender Japan Telecasters and have previously owned a Fender Japan Strat. You can’t go wrong with them….they easily match USA Fenders. I own a Fender USA Vintage series Strat and it’s no better than any Fender Japan Strat I’ve owned or played.

    If you like more quack, after you set the neck and bridge, you set the middle pickup . Usually lower than the other two will get you max quack.

    I wrote to Fender for the height specs for my Squire Bullet, (pickup style HSS) and I provided the serial number. According to Fender, the bass string height above the magnets should be 7/64-8/64" (2.75mm-3.15mm), and the treble string height should be 5/64-6/64" (1.95mm-2.4mm). Squire Bullet models are made in several countries, and there may be some variances in their tolerances. I suggest that anyone wanting to adjust their string height of ANY Fender to query Fender with their serial number.

    Great video Lucas! I have a problem. I love my Strat MIM standard HSS, but it feels stiff and bending requires some effort. The guitar has a 9.5" radius, neck "C" shape, and 0.09 strings. I took the guitar to some luthiers and they leveled the frets, changed the tunners, pickups, bridge etc (they did the complete setup), and it feels still stiff. What can I do? I played others strats with the same radius and they felt like butter. I have other guitars, but this is my favorite. I'm thinking about to replace the neck and the body for a warmoth 9.5" radius neck and for a body with high quality woods. What do you think? could this resolve my problem?

    Here is a real review ! and in my opinion, all guitar testers on UA-cam should do the same thing as you, which is to talk about quality of the fretting, string height, defects (like fret buzz), and the neck in general, rather than just showing themselves playing.

    How about bending on the 1st string, for example on the 15th fret? On my 9.5'' USA Pro II, anything under the recommended factory specs chokes out... and it not as nearly as low as yours. Frets are perfect, relief, everything...

    • @LucasCrossleyGuitar
      @LucasCrossleyGuitar Місяць тому

      Not sure. I set my fretboard dead straight. No relief. Then I set the height of the two Estrings. I don’t measure I just lower them until they buzz when bending then slowly raise them until it’s at a place I’m comfortable with. Then I set the rest of the strings with a radius gauge. First string might be a bit less forgiving. You should still get a full step bend though.

    Hello maybe a dumb question, but I was just changing my pickgaurd and after putting the pickups back their all kinda loose and some are pointing towards the bottom and some towards the top. The bobbins are still on the screws so not really sure what’s going on

      @@LucasCrossleyGuitar hi thanks for the quick responses. I mean the pickup itself is super loose. I push my finger on one side and the other side will go up if that makes sense? Kinda like a tester totter. The only way it isn’t loose is if I fully tighten them but then they are way too high

      Amazing thank you. 🙏. I’m working on a pretty in depth video about the history of why we have Japanese made Fender guitars and why people like us like them so much ;). The amount of information is mind boggling. I will have 5 Japanese made guitars in the studio while filming. Two strats, one 90’s Ibanez RG, my Ibanez AZPrestige and my very first electric guitar which is a Vantagr made at the Matsumoto factory. I think it would be tough to make a complete guide to these guitars in one video so it will be sort of an overview. I hope I get the information as accurate as possible so I’m looking forward to comments form folks who have experience with them as well. Overall, my experience with guitars made in Japan has been overwhelmingly positive. I love my American made guitars too. I have two USA Strats. A 1977 and and 07 Hiway One. Hope to have the video done in a week or less. Cheers!!

    Have you measured the radius? usually when guitars are refreted and have fingerboard leveled they go up in radius because luthiers usually sand more in the middle and try to avoid edges. This is how m,ost famous guitar players moved to 9.5-12 (EC, YM, EJ, ...) Chances are that's a 9-10" being that old.

    • @LucasCrossleyGuitar
      @LucasCrossleyGuitar 5 місяців тому

      I have radius gauges and I have measured the radius. This is the first refret on this guitar as there were no signs of it being done before. There’s a thick finish on the neck and they would had to sand through that. You would also probably see some signs of where they cut along the old frets as well. Good question though.

    Thanks for the nut-binding tip - here's one of mine in return: If for some reason you don't want to get a product like the nut sauce, or if you need to fix string binding *right now* & don't want to wait until you can aquire the product, apply a bit of graphite from a regular pencil. So basically, take a sharp pencil & "draw" inside the sting slots a litte 😊
